Rajotte Hosts Don Cherry
November 10, 2006
OTTAWA – November 10, 2006 – James Rajotte, M.P. for Edmonton-Leduc and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology, hosted Don Cherry at Parliament Hill on November 7.
Cherry was in Ottawa to raise the issue of government approval of natural health products with Dr. Jaqueline Shan, President and CEO of Edmonton-based CV Technologies and inventor of the Cold-fX, Canada’s number one selling cold and flu remedy. In addition to being an accomplished scientist and businesswoman, Dr. Shan is also a huge hockey fan and was thrilled to be joined by Don Cherry who co-hosts “Coach's Corner” on CBC Hockey Night in Canada with Ron MacLean. Don Cherry is a household name across Canada. The outspoken former NHL coach and current CBC hockey commentator is well-known for his bluntness and love of the game. In addition to his activities in the hockey world, he is also a proud supporter of the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan. During his visit to Ottawa he was quoted as saying, “I give a thumbs up to Stephen Harper for sure. He’s with the troops, I’m with the troops and everybody in Canada should be (with) the troops.” Tune into Coach’s Corner during Hockey Night in Canada on CBC TV this coming Saturday night, November 11th between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. Don Cherry will be broadcasting a special tribute to Canada’s fallen soldiers. - 30 -
